The small island of Saba harbors globally important populations of Red-billed Tropicbirds and Audubon’s Shearwaters on its steep hillsides. While tropicbirds are conspicuous, making raucous flight displays, shearwaters return to their burrows at night. Our nocturnal surveys used two methods: marine radar and listening for a response to a broadcast of their calls. These results were included in the Important Bird Area publication for Saba, authored by EPIC.
Upon arrival, Saba visitors are often surprised by the world’s shortest what?
