Important Bird Areas

Important Bird Areas (IBAs) are internationally recognized for their value in conserving bird populations. EPIC’s research has contributed to the establishment of several IBAs. In addition, EPIC authored chapters on IBAs for Sint Maarten, Saba, St. Eustatius, and St. Kitts and Nevis. We continue to advocate for additional IBA and Key Biodiversity Area recognition. These sites are critical to the long-term health of our region’s birds, which are indicators of overall ecosystem health.
