Working to pass eco-friendly legislation has been a priority for EPIC on Sint Maarten with numerous efforts and results including:
• EPIC worked alongside partners, including the Nature Foundation, to protect Mullet Pond under the international Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, also known as Ramsar.
• EPIC has advocated for legislation to reduce plastic use and pollution including plastics ban legislation in 2011 and plastic bag ban legislation in 2020.
• EPIC has worked to create a terrestrial park in Sint Maarten and to ensure public access to beaches and national monuments.
• EPIC has investigated, informed enforcement agencies, and followed up on numerous reports of pollution and dumping.
