EPIC has served as the National Operator for two internationally recognized eco-labels, the Blue Flag for Marinas and Beaches and the Green Key for Hotels. Awarded sites are recognized for their standards of excellence, offering a marketing advantage, while implementing the certification programs results in reduced expenses related to water, electricity, and consumables.
Launched by the EPIC Sint Maarten Foundation in 2008, the program ceased after Hurricane Irma devastated Sint Maarten/Saint Martin in 2017 because previously certified businesses were struggling to rebuild.
Previously Certified Businesses included:
• Divi Little Bay Resort (Blue Flag)
• Isle de Sol Yacht Club (Blue Flag)
• Holland House Beach Hotel (Green Key)
• Princess Heights Boutique Condo Hotel (Green Key)
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) manages these eco-labels at the international level and EPIC has worked closely with them to manage and implement the program.
