Despite being inhabited by people, St. Eustatius harbors globally important populations of Red-billed Tropicbirds on its steep hillsides. In addition to a census of nesting tropicbirds, EPIC researchers confirmed that Scaly-breasted Thrashers had not been driven to extinction on the island, as had been previously reported, and further recorded new records of two dove species. These results were included in the Important Bird Area publication for St. Eustatius, authored by EPIC.
