Free Monthly Hikes in Sint Maarten

June 1, 2022
/
Uncategorized

EPIC will resume offering free monthly hikes with the first one on the Fleming property, Sint Maarten on Sunday 5th June. The hike starts at 6am at the Cole Bay end of the Causeway bridge and heads up to the UTS ball at the top.

It is approximately 2km each way, is moderately challenging, and will take approximately 45 minutes each way. You will hike through secondary forest, including forest canopy towards the top, and be rewarded with panoramic views of Simpson Bay Lagoon.

Wear sensible shoes, comfortable clothes, and bring water. This hike is child friendly (probably 5+) and it would also be possible to carry small children in slings or backpack harnesses.

This is the first free hike led by EPIC volunteers since the pandemic. Thank you to the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds for funding the training of additional hike leaders.

EPIC hikes are offered every first Sunday of the month on various trails around the island. Trails are urban or coastal and reach Sint Maarten's peaks and are rated easy, moderate, or challenging.

EPIC looks forward to resuming these monthly hikes and seeing you on Sunday. You may pre-register by email to tpower-stevens@epicislands.org or WhatsApp 721-581-7637.
