In A Sea Of Green, A Crystal Ball Shines | By - Natalie Simmons

Photo Location: St. John, Barbados

Photo Description: I was inspired to take this photo when I was visiting a family member. I felt the cool midday air brush against my neck as I walked. Further stepping into the backyard, I could hear many Carib Grackles, or blackbirds, chirping to each other. Most of them were fluttering about in this large Jamaican hog plum tree, the same one taken in the photo. Suddenly, as I was walking around the tree, the sun became a little too bright for my eyes. That’s when I noticed the sparkle from my bracelet as I shielded my eyes from the sun. The glass beads reflected the shining rays. This inspired me to take this picture, with my bracelet on a tree branch, with my hand appearing to grab the bracelet. It displays the stark contrast between my sparkling glass beaded band and the sea of foliage around me. I feel these two elements came together to create a beautiful picture. This photo reminds me that even when you seem lost in life, that there is always a light to guide you.
