Lobster Walk | By - Gabriel Jensen

Photo Location: Miami, Florida

Photo Description: The Caribbean spiny lobster is a keystone species of the reef, using its long antennae to navigate and communicate. Most divers only glimpse them hidden in crevices, yet after storms they emerge in lines of dozens or even hundreds, undertaking the legendary “lobster walk” across the seafloor. This behavior ensures survival by moving individuals to safer or more productive habitats, a phenomenon that has become part of Caribbean marine lore. I was inspired to capture this lobster striding across the reef in daylight, exposed and in motion. For me, it represents the balance between ancient instinct and the fragile reef ecosystems that make such journeys possible.
