Photo Location: North Creek Grand Turk Turks and Caicos
Photo Description: Surprise is the expression on this juvenile Yellow Crown Night Heron. It was honing its hunting skills in an open grassy area at North Creek. In the early morning it was working hard to catch the small butterflies that were swarming in the area before heading in for the day. On another early morning it was working on a change in diet as I saw it feeding in the shallows off the nearby beach. Being patient and quiet you can watch birds in their habitats undisturbed by human development. This undeveloped area of Grand Turk is truly a treasure that deserves to be preserved.
