Photo Location: Little Bluff Shallows Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos
Photo Description: While North Caicos has Flamingo Pond with hundreds if not thousands of American Flamingos, Grant Turk has what I called the Elegant Eight. These eight flamingos arrived early mornings in June 2025 to the shallows off the Little Bluff beach at the far end of North Creek. The photo captures five of them in various resting postures. It must be very soothing to sleep so close to the sound of waves and away from the demands of people with cameras. This Little Bluff Beach is also a nesting site for least turns although its appears that ATVs have taken to the beach at times. It also supports pelicans, whimbrels, laughing gulls, herons and egrets. But the flamingos are the stars of the show.
