Two Worlds at Low Tide | By - Aracelis Jimenez
Photo Location: Exuma, Bahamas
Photo Description: At low tide, the waterline splits the world in two—the sky above and a nursery beneath the red mangroves roots. I took this in the Exumas, where the water was clear enough to watch juvenile fish shelter among the mangroves. This picture reminds me of the importance of these critical coastal habitats in offering a home for juvenile fish, reducing storm-surge impacts for coastal communities, and serving as long-term carbon sinks that benefit people and nature.
